In 1959 John D. MacArthur, the single largest landowner in the area at that time, decided to develop aground 4,000 acres of cattle grazing land to build a new community in Palm Beach County. That community would come to be known as the city of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Soon after in 1964, Mr. MacArthur and the PGA of America joined forces to create a world-class golf facility capable of attracting and hosting PGA Tour events that eventually became what is now BallenIsles Country Club. He also brokered a deal that brought the headquarters of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America to the area.
Today Palm Beach Gardens is well-known as one of the leading areas for world-class golf and country club real estate. And although no part of Palm Beach Gardens touches the Atlantic Ocean, the Intracoastal waterway heads South through the area from Jupiter on its way to Lake Worth Lagoon and some of Palm Beach County’s most beautiful luxury waterfront homes call Palm Beach Gardens, Florida home. It’s convenient to both Jupiter Inlet and Lake Worth Inlet and has become some of the most sought after real estate in South Florida.
