The Intracoastal waterway runs from Boston to Miami and provides an inland route for boaters to travel from New England to Florida without the hazards of the open ocean. It isn’t the fastest way to travel, as there are no wake zones and draw bridges throughout the journey, but it is a beautiful journey.
The Intracoastal waterway in Martin and Palm Beach County runs from St. Lucie Inlet south past Hobe Sound and Jupiter Island with luxurious homes dotting the banks on both sides, through a large part of Jonathan Dickinson State Park and past Tequesta and Jupiter Inlet Colony until it meets Jupiter Inlet and The Loxahatchee River. A slight jog to the west past some fantastic waterfront restaurants and under the US-1 Bridge in Jupiter and you are back on the Intracoastal waterway through Jupiter, Juno Beach, Palm Beach Gardens and North Palm Beach before it merges into Lake Worth Lagoon at Old Port Cove until you are south of Palm Beach Inlet.
